Jan Visser grew up in the Netherlands. Between 1999 and Februari 2008 he lived in the United States, where he worked as an assistant professor, instructor, and consultant. Since 2003, he combines teaching and consulting with a writing career. The Crystal Skulls, published in 2004, was his first novel.

Jan currently lives in the Netherlands, with his wife, Mieke. He enjoys playing squash, shooting pool, reading, and surfing the internet.
